STEP INTO THE SUMMER OF ‘86

Two moments from a Brooklyn summer that changed everything.

Brooklyn Nights

Sometimes the best memories happen when you’re doing absolutely nothing.

About the Author

I grew up in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, where long summer nights, neighborhood record stores, late-night walks, and a soundtrack of classic rock would eventually inspire my writing. Summer Nights is a love letter to those memories and to the people and places that never really leave us.

People occasionally ask about the name "Thursby."

It isn't a pen name I invented. It's my middle name, my father's middle name, and my grandmother's maiden name.

When I decided to publish Summer Nights, I wanted to carry a piece of my family's history with me. Using "C. Thursby Flynn" is my way of honoring the generations that came before me while telling stories inspired by the neighborhood, music, and memories that shaped my own life.

Some names are inherited.

Some stories are too.

When I'm not writing, you can find me surrounded by music (80s, of course), comics, horror memorabilia, and 1980s pop culture—always chasing the same feeling that inspired Summer Nights: the belief that some moments stay with us forever.

Because some summers never really end.
